Meet Em Marinelli: Genderqueer Psychotherapist, Professor, Writer, Podcaster

Emily (Em) Marinelli (They/Them) is a genderqueer, queer femme Virgo who blends their roles as a psychotherapist, professor, and writer. Originally from Oklahoma, Em now divides their time between California and Vermont.

Em teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies, City College of San Francisco, and Santa Rosa Junior College. In their private therapy practice, Em offers warm and supportive guidance to individuals and couples, using a humanistic, trauma-informed, feminist, social justice, and strengths-based approach.

Em’s writing has been featured in The Blue Rose Magazine, Film Obsessive, and TV Obsessive. They also host the Twin Peaks Tattoo Podcast, where they chat with fans about their Twin Peaks tattoos and what their ink means to them.

Em's debut memoir, Comfort Sequels: The Psychology of Movie Sequels from the 80s and 90s, which weaves together pop culture, psychology, and personal stories, is coming out in September 2024. When not working or writing, Em is likely cuddling with their rescue pup Radish and watching Grease 2.
